Fractional CMO

Senior marketing leadership before you're ready for the full-time hire.

Early-stage companies don't always need another marketer. Sometimes they need someone who can figure out what marketing should actually be doing, build the function, and own the number.

I work directly with founders as an embedded marketing leader, helping sharpen ICP and positioning, rebuild the funnel math, prioritize where to invest, and build a marketing motion that produces pipeline, not just activity.

01

Build the marketing function

Figure out what the company actually needs from marketing, set priorities, build the plan, establish the right metrics, and put the operating rhythm in place.

02

Connect marketing to revenue

Work backward from the revenue target using real ACV, conversion rates, sales cycle, and pipeline requirements. Then build the marketing plan around what the business actually needs to produce.

03

Build the team and motion

Determine who to hire, what to outsource, where to invest, and which channels deserve resources. I'll help build and lead the team while creating a marketing function that can eventually operate without a fractional CMO.

Why Rob

I've built this function from zero five times. I've been the first marketing leader at five venture-backed B2B SaaS startups, typically working directly with the CEO to build marketing from the ground up.

Before that, I spent five years at IDC advising companies including Microsoft, VMware, Dell, NVIDIA, Citrix, and ServiceNow, and led product marketing at IBM Security.

That analyst-plus-operator experience is what I bring into fractional engagements.

Not sure you need a fractional CMO?

Most engagements start with the GTM Diagnostic, a focused engagement designed to identify what's actually broken before deciding what resources, leadership, or investment you need.

Need senior marketing leadership without the full-time hire?

Let's talk about where your GTM is today, what you're trying to build, and whether fractional leadership makes sense.
